Legendary Wrestler Jesse Ventura Making WWE Return: Report

While it's always exciting to see new talent and current main eventers, there is nothing quite like seeing old favorites in the WWE.

Multiple veteran talents have made their return to the squared circle recently, including Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Goldberg, and even Bret Hart.

Now, it looks like another professional wrestling legend is set to come back to WWE.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE has plans for Hall of Famer Jesse Ventura to be at the upcoming Saturday Night's Main Event in December. However, there is nothing set in regards to Ventura's role.

"The role is to be determined," Meltzer said. "Right now the idea is for him not to announce the entire show, perhaps an interview segment or announcing a match but the idea now is simply for him to be part of the show for nostalgia reasons."

This corresponds with reports from professional wrestling veteran Greg Gagne saying that WWE had plans to utilize Ventura in the return of Saturday Night's Main Event.

Additionally, Ventura has confirmed that he has signed a legends contract with WWE despite grievances he has with the company.

"I thought it was time that maybe I tell everybody, indeed, hell has frozen over. Yes, hell has frozen over," Ventura said. "I'm back in the WWE as a legend. I've gone through negotiations, we've reached agreements, and I feel very good about it."

"You know, I'm 73 years old now and my life has now gone full-circle. I got my first fame and fortune in the wrestling industry. I went on to do many, many other things above and beyond wrestling — or outside of wrestling — after I left it. And now maybe it's only right that I come back to wrestling in the twilight of my life and finish off with what I always was."

Ventura made his professional wrestling debut in 1974 as Jesse "The Body" Ventura, alluding to his impressive body building physique and his "bleach blonde from California" gimmick.

After spending years in various territories, Ventura would join WWF (now WWE) where he would have memorable feuds with Hulk Hogan and Bob Backlund.

After being forced to retire due to blood clots in his lungs, Ventura would become a popular commentator known for his heelish tendencies.

Ventura also had a fruitful career post wrestling, featuring in films like Predator (1987), Demolition Man (1993), and The Ringer (2005).

Ventura served as governor of Minnesota from Jan. 4, 1999-Jan. 6, 2003 as a member of the Reform Party of Minnesota, later joining the Independence Party of Minnesota.
