Argentinian prosecutors are set to challenge a judge's decision to recuse herself from the investigation into the tragic death of One Direction star, Liam Payne. The pop sensation tragically lost his life after falling from the third floor of his hotel suite in Buenos Aires on October 16, at the age of 31.

Following the heartbreaking incident, three suspects were apprehended, but prosecutors argue there is an "impasse" hindering their interrogation - a deadlock they are striving to break. Public prosecutor, Andres Madrea, will contend that Laura Bruniard can persist with her inquiry into the suspects despite claims that Liam was left alone prior to his fatal plunge from the third-floor balcony of the CasaSur Palermo Hotel after indulging in alcohol and narcotics.

TMZ reported last month that the judge had decreed local prosecutors should be handling the case under Argentinian law due to the allegation of abandonment before death, which has yet to result in any formal charges. Local news outlets report that the appeal is scheduled for today as Mr Madrea aims to "unlock the impasse" said to be stalling the ongoing criminal investigation.

It remains unclear when a decision on who has jurisdiction to continue the probe will be made. The verdict on whether more suspects will be included in the investigation is not anticipated until after the appeal ruling.

The Daily Mail's bombshell snaps last month of staff at Liam's swanky Buenos Aires hotel carting him back to his suite just before his tragic plunge sparked a frenzy of speculation about why they didn't keep the ex-One Direction star under wraps in the lobby while waiting for the medics. On Saturday, Argentinian news hub Infobae dropped the bomb that Liam's pricey £30,000 Rolex vanished when one of the two escorts he's rumoured to have partied with before his untimely demise popped back to his room to grab some makeup she left behind after a payment squabble in the front lobby, reports the Mirror.

Last month, three individuals were placed under investigation but have not been charged with any crime in relation to a case involving Liam. They've been identified locally as Liam's close mate Rogelio 'Roger' Nores, ex-hotel worker Ezequiel David Pereyra, and 24 year old waiter Braian Nahuel Paiz.

During an interview on Argentine telly three weeks back, Paiz copped to taking drugs with Liam but swore: "I never took drugs to him or accepted any money."

Mate Roger was previously up in arms protesting his innocence after being named as one of the trio under the cosh.

Facing the music over accusations of supplying drugs and leaving Liam in the lurch before his demise, businessman Mr Nores, who's been called Liam's manager, blasted out in a statement: "I never abandoned Liam, I went to his hotel three times that day and left 40 minutes before this happened. There were over 15 people at the hotel lobby chatting and joking with him when I left. I could have never imagined something like this would happen."

"The third is also a drug dealer who is being investigated on suspicion of another two clearly proven supplies of cocaine at two different times on October 14."

Since their November 7 statement, the prosecutors have not made any official comments or mentioned the appeal hearing expected later today, although sources close to the probe maintain that the investigation continues.
