Following fan speculation about their alleged use of nitrous oxide, Lil Uzi Vert has set the record straight on how they feel about whippets.
In an appearance on Pitchfork's Over/Under series on YouTube, in which artists are asked whether they think something is over or underrated, Uzi was asked about whippets. "Overrated," they replied with a chuckle. "Don't do whippets! Them jawns, they is bad! Yo, don't do them. They is bad. They'll have you eating foods you never ate, they'll have you hanging with people you never hung with. That's just what I heard."
Earlier this year, Uzi referenced being "on that NOS" on the opening track from their latest studio album, Eternal Atake 2. Before the release of the album, a video circulated online that appeared to show Uzi partaking in nitrous oxide, a substance that can lead to nerve damage, vitamin B12 interference, fainting, and paralysis. If Uzi did, in fact, recreationally do whippets, they've clearly since changed their mind on the substance.
"I ain't gonna lie, it be a lot of people in the world that want you to push a narrative, but I'm not pushing no narrative unless it makes sense," they continued. "I'm gonna be real with you, honestly, with no money and no narrative, whippets is really bad. Like, I'm really saying that. I don't say nothing is bad. I'm the guy that love everything that's bad. Whippets are fucking bad, bro. Like, really bad. I don't say nothing bad, but mayonnaise. Mayonnaise is bad, too. Mayonnaise is horrible. You eat that, you a serial killer."
Elsewhere in the interview, Uzi shared their thoughts on topics as diverse as spelunking, auto-tune, mukbang streams or videos, and Paramore lead singer Hayley Williams. They also said that BBLs are "underrated," because, "If a woman wanted to make themself look better, in their eyes, then I'm with it."
