Its acidity breaks down hard water mineral deposits, dissolves soap scum, and fights mould and mildew.

Unlike some commercial cleaners, vinegar leaves no residue and is safe for most surfaces.

How to clean shower screens and tiles with vinegar

Mix equal parts white vinegar and warm water in a spray bottle. Spray the solution generously on the shower screen, tiles, and other surfaces affected by grime or limescale.

Let it sit for five minutes to break down the build-up before wiping away the grime with a soft cloth or sponge. For stubborn spots, scrub lightly with a non-abrasive pad. Rinse with water and dry with a clean microfibre cloth for a streak-free finish.

How to clean toilets with vinegar

Pour one to two cups of white vinegar into the toilet bowl. Let it sit for at least five minutes (or longer for tough stains).

Scrub with a toilet brush, ensuring the vinegar covers all areas then flush to reveal a clean, stain-free toilet bowl.

How to clean shower heads with vinegar

Fill a small plastic bag with white vinegar and secure it around the shower head using an elastic band.

Leave it to soak for 30 minutes to an hour to dissolve mineral deposits. Remove the bag, rinse the shower head with water, and run the shower to clear any residue.
