Notre Dame Fighting Irish head coach Marcus Freeman will officially be one of the highest paid college coaches in the nation after agreeing to a contract extension on Sunday.
The contract agreement is a four-year extension. He has two years remaining on his current deal, so this would lock Freeman up in navy and gold for the next six seasons in total.
After a devastating upset loss to Northern Illinois at home on Sept. 7, Freeman guided the No.7 Fighting Irish to 10 consecutive victories and an 11-1 record.
Amidst his third season at the helm for Notre Dame, Freeman holds a 30-9 record.
Freeman cracked the College Football Playoff for the first time in his tenure this season and the third in program history. The Fighting Irish will began the tournament by looking to knock off No. 10 Indiana in the first round for a chance at No. 2 Georgia in the All State Sugar Bowl on New Year's Day.
