In such a short week, injuries could lead to players being ruled out. However, the Lions have made a decision on both Montgomery and St. Brown.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport revealed that both Montgomery and St. Brown are being listed as active despite popping up on the injury report as questionable.
Montgomery popped up on the injury report with a shoulder injury, resulting in his not being able to practice on Monday. He was also listed as a limited participant on Tuesday. Despite being upgraded as a full participant on Wednesday, he came into Thursday as questionable.
The same situation occurred for St. Brown, who appeared on the injury report with a knee injury. He would not practice on Monday and be a limited participant on Tuesday. St. Brown also came into Thursday as questionable, but he has been made active along with Montgomery.
Both are integral to the Lions' offense and losing either for this important Thanksgiving showdown would have pampered the team's plans for the Chicago Bears.
The Lions are looking for their 11th win of the season, which would not only place them further in the NFC North title race but could also lead to being the first team in the conference to clinch a playoff berth.
Should the Lions win, they can clinch a playoff berth with any one of these scenarios, which has been detailed by USA Today:
The Lions will clinch a playoff berth if:
- Lions win (vs. Bears) AND 49ers lose or tie (at Bills) AND
- EITHER Cardinals lose or tie (at Vikings) AND Seahawks lose (at Jets) AND
- Buccaneers lose or tie (at Panthers) OR
- Commanders lose or tie (vs. Titans) AND Falcons lose (vs. Chargers) OR

- OR Cardinals lose AND Seahawks tie AND
- Buccaneers lose or tie OR
- Commanders lose or tie AND Falcons lose OR

- EITHER Cardinals lose or tie (at Vikings) AND Seahawks lose (at Jets) AND
The Lions are the favorites to head to the Super Bowl for the NFC, and they could make that more of a reality with a big win on Thanksgiving. Thankfully, they will have Montgomery and St. Brown to help them in that quest.
