Macaulay Culkin and Brenda Song have detailed why they have yet to tie the knot despite being together for eight years.

Weddings can be extremely expensive, there's no doubt about that. Especially if you're having a big event, thousands of dollars can be shelled out the venue, wedding and then you've got all the guests to cater for.

But Culkin and Song are celebrities who you'd think would have plenty of money to splash out on a nice day, but for whatever reason they have decided not to marry just yet.

The pair have been dating for eights years, and they got engaged in 2022.

Culkin and Song welcomed their first child, Dakota Song Culkin, in April 2021 - and two years later, Song gave birth to Carson.

In a recent interview with Cosmopolitan, the celebrity couple have been speaking about the decision to delay their big day.

Song explained: "We talked about eloping. But I was like, ‘If we eloped, my mom would have a heart attack that she wasn’t going to be there....’”

Let alone getting married, Culkin stated in the interview that some folks don't even realize they are together, let alone having children together too.

Culkin began: "That the public is like, ‘Wait, they’re together and they have kids?’ Good. That means we did our job."

Song, meanwhile, added: "There was a point in time where I was like, ‘I must be in a simulation! I have two children with Macaulay Culkin!’”

After being together for eight years, the couple's relationship is seemingly going from strength to strength, with Brenda conceding the pair had both previously had turbulent relationships.

"We were both very hurt in past relationships and kept expectations low," she told Cosmopolitan." Speaking of her fiancé, Song added: "I could see these glimpses of this really interesting, very sensitive, very intelligent, artistic person that he doesn't really let show."

Culkin recalled being introduced to Song's family for the first time at Christmas.

"And I still technically wasn’t a boyfriend!" the Home Alone actor said.

There was no doubt in Culkin's mind however that Sogn was the one. He added "I’d never felt this way before. “I believed in her. I mean, I believed in people before, but I believed in her down to my bone marrow. You know what I mean? I put it behind the armor though, behind that shield."
