‘Mad’ Cynthia Nixon protests Trump’s transgender executive order: It ‘sickens me to my core’

Cynthia Nixon is “mad as hell” at President Donald Trump for signing an executive order to stop gender-affirming care for trans children.

The “Sex and The City” star, 58, attended a protest in New York City on Monday, where she spoke on NYU-Langone Hospital cancelling at least two children’s appointments to receive puberty-blocking medication.

The former politician, whose trans son Samuel got his top surgery done at NYU “a number of years ago,” said the idea that young people can’t receive the same “highest care” her son had access to “sickens me to my core.”

Not only does Nixon have a trans son, but she’s also “the aunt of a proud trans man,” she told the crowd at St. Vartan Park, according to a video shared on her Instagram.

“My best friend’s kid is trans [too] and my kid’s best friend is trans.”

“My wife and I — our lives are filled with the most amazing, beautiful, brave trans people — young and old, but especially young,” she continued.

The school’s decision to cancel the appointments comes after Trump signed the “Protecting Children From Chemical and Surgical Mutilation” executive order last week which stated that the U.S. government would not send funds to doctors or institutions that performed gender-reassignment surgery or other procedures tied to transitioning.

The “And Just Like That” star, who has been vocal about other trans issues in the past, also took aim at President Trump during her Monday night address, saying the new order “cannot happen in New York.”

As she told the crowd that Trump’s election has left trans kids and their supporters in the fray of nonstop “assault” and “barrage,” she condemned the move as unacceptable.

Despite the political turmoil she feels, Nixon proceeded to offer a positive note to the group of protestors, telling them that Monday’s protest lifted her spirits.

“Nothing has made me feel so good as coming around the corner today and seeing you all standing here fighting for trans rights,” she said.
