Hangar 13 has released a new trailer for Mafia: The Old Country, confirming that it will be released in the summer of 2025. The trailer was revealed at The Game Awards, but not before a portion of it was released prematurely early by Hangar 13 on social media.
The Old Country is set before the events of the original trilogy, exploring the origins of the crime family in 1900s Sicily. Likewise, the trailer gives us a good look at how Hangar 13 is bringing the island to life.
The trailer shows that it will feature plenty of knife fights, horse rides, shotguns, and the return of cover-based shooting. Yep, that's Mafia alright. In The Old Country, Hangar 13 introduces a new protagonist, Enzo, who will have to join Don Torrisi's crime family to survive a harsh life.
"Mafia: The Old Country is a love letter to old-style, gritty Mafia stories where players can uncover the origins of organized crime," said Nick Baynes, president of Hangar 13.
"Everyone at Hangar 13 is committed to creating the most authentic and intense story of the franchise, and we can't wait for players to experience the journey with Enzo."
The new game is the first entry in the series in nine years, although a remaster of the original game, called Mafia: Definitive Edition, was released in 2020. If the footage we've seen in the trailer is running in real time, then Hangar 13 must be applauded for pushing in-game visuals once again.
Mafia: The Old Country will be released in 2025 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
