An unassuming text led to a wild birthday surprise for a woman online.
A TikTok video, posted by Mairéad (@mairead.vs) has gone viral after she shared what her boyfriend did after asking for her favorite photo of her cat: printed it on a massive tapestry for her birthday. Since the video was posted, it has received over 350,000 views and over 65,000 likes.
"My boyfriend texted me and asked me to send him a picture of my cat, my favorite picture of my cat because his roommate wanted to see—thinking nothing of it because obviously people want to see my cat," Mairéad said in the video, revealing the photo she sent her boyfriend of her cat getting brushed.
"She's getting brushed, one of her favorite things," Mairéad continued. "It's just a really great action shot. He was like, 'No, send me one that's, like, cute.' I was like, 'No, that's like, that's the cutest one.'"
Little did she know, her boyfriend had big plans for her birthday. She said he had showered her with several surprises on the day.
"He got me flowers, he got me perfume, and he said there was another surprise that he had left. Hands me this Amazon package and pulls out the biggest tapestry I have ever seen in my life, of my cat," Mairéad said, revealing a photo of the tapestry. "Why is it so big?! I could not stop laughing. I sent it to my entire family."
It turns out that the tapestry was bigger than her boyfriend expected it to be. She said the memory resurfaced because she had decorated for her younger brother's homecoming party with it.
"That's funny," her brother said in a clip Mairéad took of his reaction. "That should stay, I think."
Viewers in the comments praised Mairéad's boyfriend for the hilarious effort, even though it's unclear who decided to upsize the tapestry.
"I wonder if the seller saw the picture and went, 'No. We need to go bigger,'" @toastedghostie wrote.
"This boy is such a green flag. You found a keeper, Hon," @zibani85 wrote.
One person chimed in with their personal experience, saying that the photo's ridiculousness might have created the best-case scenario.
"My mom asked for my favorite picture of my puppy, and I sent her the derpiest picture," @wandering_angel wrote. "She put it on a shirt for me. I adore it and it always gets laughs when I wear it to walk her."
