India's former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh died on Thursday at age 92.

Current Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Singh in a message posted on X (formerly Twitter).

"India mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished leaders, Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji," Modi wrote. "Rising from humble origins, he rose to become a respected economist.
