Mariah Carey Tries Gift-Wrapping in Christmas-Themed Video

Mariah Carey may have flaunted her skills as a musician and fashion icon this Christmas 2024 but gift wrapping did not seem like one of them. In a funny and relatable Instagram video, Carey unsuccessfully tried wrapping a holiday present, ultimately proving it was not her cup of tea. It appears even the “Queen of Christmas” struggles to complete some of the simplest festive season tasks. Nevertheless, she acknowledged her shortcomings in the brief clip and showed beyond doubt that it is the thought that counts.

Getting candid about her gift-wrapping skills in the clip, Mariah Carey admitted that the task “is not as easy as it looks.” The Christmas-themed Instagram video showed the singer trying to wrap holiday presents and horribly failing to do so.

Carey started by exhibiting the gift which was her brand’s earmuffs with her initials “MC” on either side. She then used her own custom wrapping paper to pack the muffs, claiming it’s “really, really not my thing” before roughly tearing off the remaining sheet with her hands.

The Grammy winner noted how buying gifts is not a problem for her but doesn’t wanna be the one to wrap them. Carey later clarified her statement, mentioning that she does not wanna do the task because “I’m not good at it” and “not because I think I’m about gift wrapping.”

While cutting the paper in the messiest way possible using a “huge” pair of scissors, the singer said, “I don’t wanna be doing this” as she broke into laughter. For the next step in the process, she cut some tape which unfortunately stuck to her nail and made her struggle for a little longer.

Finally, Mariah Carey demonstrated the almost-wrapped gift which looked like a disfigured toffee and not a perfect Christmas present. Luckily, she found a ready-made ribbon to add to it and exclaimed in excitement, “See, that’s how people get away with it.”

The video ended abruptly with Carey in the middle of her struggle with the ribbon. In the caption she wrote, “Wrapping gifts is NOT as easy as it looks!! What gifts are you wrapping this year??”
