Amid the success of Marvel Rivals, DC has revealed that it is “open” to creating its own hero shooter with Batman, Superman, and other popular heroes.
Marvel Rivals features a stacked roster of beloved heroes. Players can control Spider-Man, Mister Fantastic, Doctor Strange, and others as they battle for glory.
Since launching at the end of 2024, the hero-shooter has amassed a huge player base, generated plenty of attention online, and is showing no signs of slowing down thanks to the Season 1.5 update.
While Marvel fans have been getting their fill, DC lovers have been left behind, at least for now. However, DC has not ruled out the possibility of releasing its own multiplayer title, which could serve as a direct competitor to Marvel Rivals.
In an interview with ComicBook, Superman director and DC boss James Gunn revealed that the studio wants to expand into the video game world with a project similar to Marvel Rivals.
DC is “open” to making Marvel Rivals style competitor

DC boss James Gunn is “open” to making a game similar to Marvel Rivals.
Gunn responded quickly and directly when asked whether fans should expect a DC version of Marvel Rivals.
“Totally possible, I’d be open to it,” the Guardians of the Galaxy director revealed.
Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern are popular DC characters who have existed in the comic book world just as long as the Marvel heroes who appear in Marvel Rivals. Of course, they’ve all appeared in various games over the years too.
With a rich history and plenty of source material to draw from, a DC version that includes alternate hero skins, different abilities, and unique maps would be a strong adversary to Rivals.
Despite finding success in the videogame industry through the Batman Arkham games, a series Kai Cenat is repopularizing as part of his ongoing marathon stream, a fully-fledged multiplayer shooter focused on DC characters, has not yet been released.
The closest thing was the 2024 title Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. However, this game failed to resonate with players at launch and was slammed for its performance issues and lack of innovation.
Without a formal announcement, a DC version of Marvel Rivals won’t be released for years if it does go ahead. For the time being, comic lovers who want to get their fix on fast-paced competitor gameplay have Marvel Rivals to dive into.
With hero buffs and nerfs and The Thing and Human Torch recently added into the game, there’s plenty of fresh content to experience.
