Massive Trade Proposal Sees Lakers Boost Frontcourt and Backcourt Depth

The Los Angeles Lakers are expected to be one of the more active teams as the highly anticipated Feb. 6 NBA trade deadline approaches.

The NBA trade deadline is rarely disappointing, and many players are expected to be on the move this year.

The Lakers are expected to be big players. They are arguably a move to two away from seriously competing for a title this season. L.A. has appeared to find its groove, as they've won five of their last six games.

Lakers superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis have been vocal about bolstering the roster, and this trade proposal sees L.A. do just that.

In this hypothetical trade, L.A. returns to its familiar trade partner, the Brooklyn Nets, and acquires two of their young and promising players: guard Cameron Thomas and Day'Ron Sharpe.

Nets receive: Jalen Hood-Schifino, Christain Wood, Cam Reddish, and a 2029 first-round pick

The Lakers lose one of their two highly coveted first-round picks; however, they add two young and impactful players who could help them immediately.

The Lakers' championship window, if there is one, is incredibly small. L.A. cannot squander this opportunity with James and Davis on their side, and this move would help them not only right now but for years to come.

Thomas and Sharpe, each 23 years old, have been limited in Brooklyn but have shown promise when out there, especially Thomas.

Although Thomas has only played in 19 games this season, he has scored the heck out of the ball. He is averaging 24.7 points per game, 3.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 0.7 steals while shooting 44.8 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from three in 32.3 minutes of action.

As for Sharpe, he has been solid in his role, averaging 7.6 points per game, 6.2 rebounds, and 0.5 blocks while shooting 48 percent from the field in 24 games and 17.4 minutes of action.

The Lakers are rumored to be hesitant to make a significant move as the trade deadline approaches. However, if they are serious about competing this season, they must take a big swing, and this trade would be a win-win for both sides.

L.A. gets two players who help them right out of the gate and could help them for years to come. As for the Nets, they can start their rebuild and get a first-round pick that could help them out down the line.
