A social media video posted online by the creator Nimay Ndolo comparing the Cybertruck explosion suspect with the alleged UnitedHealthcare shooter Luigi Mangione has gone viral.

Why It Matters

The video comparing the two men has quickly gone viral, with 1.7 million views at the time of reporting. Newsweek has reached out to Ndolo via email for comment.

In December, Luigi Mangione captured America's attention after he allegedly shot and killed UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Many online users were sympathetic to him and he quickly became the subject of a social media frenzy, with the case has prompting fresh discourse about healthcare in America.

What To Know

Matthew Livelsberger has been named by local media as the suspect found dead inside an explosives-filled Tesla Cybertruck which blew up outside President-elect Donald Trump's Las Vegas hotel on Wednesday, New Year's Day 2025.

Seven people were injured when the vehicle containing firework mortars and camp fuel canisters exploded.

In the viral social media video, Ndolo says: "Someone just parked a Cybertruck full of fireworks in front of the Trump hotel in Las Vegas. They put the fireworks in the car and set them off on purpose. 2025 isn't a full day old."

She adds: "It also hasn't even been 30 days since Luigi pulled his big one. And now someone else has popped out in a Tesla in front of the Trump hotel and made the Tesla go 'gba'."

She then says: "America spent all last month developing class consciousness. They also spent last month developing an assassin kink."

"So this Vegas pyromaniac better have a fat a*** and a thick manifesto because oh my God."

Ndolo is likely referring here to the reports of Mangione's manifesto, and the social media discourse which has made Mangione into a sex symbol.

Ndolo then adds that she thought the first big news story of 2025 would be the funeral of former President Jimmy Carter. Carter, the longest living president in U.S. history, passed away on Sunday at his Georgia home at the age of 100, and his funeral will take place on January 9.

She then says: "But here we are and it's only day one."

Law enforcement is currently investigating the potential motivations of the Cybertruck explosion, and if they are political, as well as whether it has links to the New Orleans atrocity, where a truck drove into a crowd, killing 15 people. The crash is being investigated as a terrorist attack.

The Cybertruck explosion has sparked a significant amount of speculation online, focusing on the suspect Matthew Livelsberger and his political beliefs.

People on social media have pointed out the fact that the explosion took place outside of a Trump hotel, and that the car which exploded was a Tesla, the car company owned by Elon Musk, a prominent ally of Trump's.

What People Are Saying

Police Department Sheriff Kevin McMahill said on Wednesday when asked about possible connections: "This is a Tesla truck, and we know that Elon Musk is working with President-elect Trump, and it's the Trump Tower.

He added that: "There's obviously things to be concerned about and it's something we continue to look at."

In a comment on the video which has been liked over four thousand times, a user wrote: "Strap in folks, 2025 is already wild and it's just getting started."

In a post on his platform Truth Social, President-elect Donald Trump wrote, ""Our country is a disaster, a laughing stock all over the world."

What's Next

The Las Vegas police are investigating the fire and explosion. During Wednesday's news conference, Jeremy Schwartz, acting FBI Special Agent in Charge for the Las Vegas office, confirmed that the FBI is also involved in the investigation.
