Maya Jama talks 'marriage and kids' as she sparks romance rumours with Rúben Dias

Maya Jama has sparked rumors of a romance with Manchester City’s Rúben Dias after the pair were seen dining together in Ibiza on New Year's Eve

Maya Jama, 30, has ignited speculation about a potential relationship with Manchester City defender Rúben Dias, aged 27. 

The two were seen dining together in Ibiza on New Year's Eve, leading to widespread rumours about their connection. This sighting comes just six months after Maya's split from rapper Stormzy, 31, in July 2024.

In an interview with The Evening Standard last month, Maya shared that she wants her next partner to be someone she can marry and have children with.

She told the publication: "I am so happy right now but the next person I meet I want to marry and have kids with, so obviously I’m feeling fussy. I’ve created such a nice life for myself alone and I don’t want anyone who’s not going to add to that. I’m in this lovely bubble and I don’t want you unless you make me happy. If you’re not, I kind of don’t need you."

After reports surfaced about Maya dating the Manchester football star, fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to point out that Stormzy is a well-known Manchester United supporter.

One person wrote on social media: "Stormzy supports man United, I know he's smashing things rn." Another added: "Lmao ain't Stormzy a Utd boy? Man women play chess [for real]."

In new snaps, Maya was seen at a table with the Manchester City star and one of her friends at Sa Capella in Ibiza as they prepared to bring in 2025. They didn't share any pictures of them together but there were spotted in a blurry snap that has been posted on social media.

TV presenter Maya and sports star Ruben sparked romance rumours after they started following each other on Instagram after they both went to the MTV EMAs in Manchester in November last year. The Mirror have reached out to Maya and Ruben's representatives for comment.

Maya and Stormzy shocked their fans in July when they revealed they had broken up again. They wrote in a statement: "We've been laughing whilst drafting this because we never, ever, in a million years thought we'd be the couple announcing a breakup. But for the sake of clarity and, more importantly, to allow us the space and grace that's needed for us both to be able to navigate this next bit of our lives with peace, we thought it might be best to."

They explained that they had been fighting against hectic work schedules to try to make things work, and the post reflected on the fact they first got together when he was 21 and she was 20. They added: "We still think the absolute world of each other, we still care and respect each other, we are still grateful for the time we've had together, and we are still friends and will always be friends."
