A leading mechanic has revealed the best second-hand car brand on the market with motorists urged to snap up models after Christmas.
Car repair specialist Scotty Kilmer revealed that Toyota was his top pick and even highlighted two models that should be on road users' wishlists ahead of the New Year.
The Japanese brand was praised for its bullet-proof reliability. Machines still hold strong with hundreds of thousands of miles on the odometer.
Strong reliability means road users could be protected from major car faults and hefty repair bills after finalising a sale, but this is not guaranteed.
In particular, Scotty pointed out the Toyota Highlander and Toyota Venza SUVs as the best options.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Scotty said: “These are very good engines, change the timing belt every 100,000 miles or so and you won't have any problems.
“I've been working on cars for 55 years and I started working on Toyota's in the early 1070s. Do you know how many broken timing belts I've seen on these V6 engines, none.
“And I’ve seen people with 350,000 miles and still the original timing belt, They’re made that well.”
The Highlander is available in the UK and can be picked up from used car dealers and websites located across the country.

According to Carwow, the price of a used Toyota Highlander is likely to set motorists back around £35.890.
AutoTrader, the leading second-hand used car marketplace, has Highlander models on sale for around £30,000.
In his video, Scotty gets behind the wheel of a used Highlander he has picked up to demonstrate the model’s strength.
Even with several components broken, the car still runs effectively leaving Scotty stunned behind the wheel.
Scotty added: "Yeah it’s old but it still goes down the road.
“Sure the tyre pressure monitoring system doesn’t work, the ABS system doesn't work, the vehicle speed control doesn't work, the airbag doesn't work and the check engine light is on but it still goes down the road.”
