Meta introduces new search tools for Threads, which will refine search by a profile and date range

Meta Platforms’ microblogging application Threads is launching a new feature that lets users apply filters for profiles and date ranges to narrow down their searches. This expands on a new feature that lets users select from pre-existing alternatives and set a custom feed as the default. Over the coming weeks, the feature—which lets users choose profiles and configure date ranges—will be accessible everywhere.

Users can now choose between Top and Recent posts in the search menu thanks to new capabilities added to the search bar by Threads. A refine option with three options—After date, Before date, and From profile—is one of the new options on the right side.

Last month Instagram and Threads head Adam Mosseri announced that the firm has started to test “long-overdue improvements to Search and Trending Now on Threads.” He also mentioned that soon an update will arrive bringing the ability to search within a specific date range or search for posts from a single account.

Later in November Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta Platforms, announced the launch of a Threads feature that allows users to pick between For You, Following, and custom feeds based on interests or criteria. Currently users can choose from For you, Following, and custom feeds on the home screen, but the platform’s under-testing feature may soon enable default selection.

The new feature lets users create custom feeds by searching for a certain topic and selecting build new feed. Users may also add fresh topics or profiles by going to the appropriate page and clicking Add to feed from the three-dot menu.
