Michelle Keegan and Mark Wright delighted fans on Sunday evening by announcing they’re expecting their first child in 2025. Sharing the happy news on social media, Michelle posed on a sandy beach, cradling her blossoming baby bump as she stood opposite Mark. The actress captioned the heartwarming post, “2025 is going to be a special one for us.”
Ahead of their announcement, Mark had hinted at a potential baby name during a playful conversation with Robbie Williams on Heart Radio. In the chat, Mark asked if he could "borrow" Robbie’s daughter Theodora’s nickname, Teddy.
"I’ve got something to ask you, in case this happens,” Mark teased. “Me and my wife, we’re not trying for kids yet, but hopefully one day we will. She loves both Teddy and Theodora." Robbie enthusiastically gave his blessing, admitting he had borrowed the name from rock legend Keith Richards.
The couple’s baby announcement comes after years of speculation surrounding their plans to start a family. Michelle has previously spoken out about the invasive questions, telling The Mirror, “People don’t know if we’re trying. They don’t know the background of what’s happening. In this day and age, you shouldn’t be asking questions like that.” She emphasized the importance of privacy and noted that women often face such questions unfairly.
Mark and Michelle’s love story began in the world of glitzy industry events and TV fame. The pair met on the X Factor scene and officially began dating in 2012. By 2013, Mark whisked Michelle away for a romantic proposal in Dubai, and they tied the knot two years later in a lavish ceremony.
Now, with their joyful baby news out in the open, the couple has been flooded with congratulatory messages from friends, family, and fans alike. As anticipation grows for their little one’s arrival, the name Teddy might just become a meaningful nod to their shared journey and dreams for the future.
Michelle wore a stylish co-ord by Meshki to announce her pregnancy. The Manchester-born star opted for the brand's 'Petra' co-ord, made of cosy, figure-hugging knitted material. The top, featuring long sleeves and an asymmetrical cut, is priced at £49, while the matching maxi skirt, designed with delicate ruching at the waist, retails for £69 — surprisingly affordable!
The brand describes the outfit as, “The PETRA Long Sleeve Knit Crop Top combines comfort and chic sophistication in one versatile piece. With a wide boat neckline, it can be worn off one shoulder for a relaxed, yet elegant look. The long sleeves provide just the right amount of coverage, while the slouchy fit adds a laid-back charm.”
