Fitness influencer Miguel Angel Aguilar, 43, died three months after being shot during a robbery.

Aguilar's fitness brand, Self Made Training Facility, revealed the news of his death in an Instagram post on Saturday, December 21, PEOPLE reported.

"We are deeply saddened to announce the death of our founder and CEO, Miguel Angel Aguilar," the social media post reads. "After a brave three-month battle following the tragic incident on September 13, 2024, Miguel passed away peacefully on December 21, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones."

Miguel was more than just a leader, he was a visionary, an inspiration, a mentor, a father, a husband, a family and a dear friend to many. His unwavering dedication to the Self Made Training Facility, his passion for the fitness industry and his entrepreneurial spirit have left a lasting legacy.

"Miguel Angel revolutionized personal training and inspired countless people to pursue their business and fitness goals," the statement concluded with a reminder to celebrate his life.

"While we mourn the loss of our dear friend and leader, we also celebrate his extraordinary life and the positive impact he had on so many people. Miguel's spirit will live on through Self Made Training Facility," the statement said. "We will continue to honor his legacy by staying true to our mission and values while continuing to innovate and serve our franchisees, coaches, members, clients and the rest of our current and future Self Made Family members. The attack against Miguel Angel Aguilar

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) said officers were called to Thurston Circle in Bel-Air at around 4:30 p.m. local time on September 13.

On site, four male suspects "approached the victim and demanded his property," Los Angeles Police Department Officer Kevin Terzes told PEOPLE. "One suspect produced a handgun and fired multiple shots hitting the victim."

Terzes said the suspects fled the scene in a vehicle, and so far no update has been given on the case.
