Miley Cyrus is releasing a visual album next year! That’s right, the Grammy-winning songstress is gearing up to drop an “experimental” pop album, which is unlike “anything she’s ever done.”
Keep reading for everything we know about MC9:
When Does Miley Cyrus’ 9th Album Drop?
The album is set to drop some time in 2025, the “Flowers” singer confirmed during an interview with Harper’s Bazaar in November 2024,
“It was inspired by Pink Floyd’s The Wall,” she told the outlet of the surrealist classic-rock concert film. “My idea was making The Wall, but with a better wardrobe and more glamorous and filled with pop culture.”
She described the album’s vibe as “hypnotizing and glamorous,” explaining, “It’s a concept album that’s an attempt to medicate somewhat of a sick culture through music.”
The Disney Channel alum also said she wants to be a “human psychedelic for people,” saying, “I don’t want anyone trying to be like me or imitate me or even be inspired by me. I want to impact frequencies in your body that make you vibrate at a different level.”
What Is the Purpose of the Visual Album?
“The visual component of this is driving the sound,” Miley explained. “It was important for me that every song has these healing sound properties. The songs, whether they’re about destruction or heartbreak or death, they’re presented in a way that is beautiful, because the nastiest times of our life do have a point of beauty. They are the shadow, they are the charcoal, they are the shading. You can’t have a painting without highlights and contrast.”
What Is the Album’s Title Track?
Her boyfriend, Maxx Morando, produced multiple songs on the upcoming album, including “Something Beautiful,” which is currently slated to be the title track.
Miley said there’s never really been a line between collaborators and loved ones for her.
“I worked with my dad forever. That’s how me and my ex-husband met each other. I’ve always worked with the people that I love. And Maxx just inspires me so much.”
The Hannah Montana star’s most recent studio album was 2023’s Endless Summer Vacation, which included her hit single “Flowers,” which won her her very first Grammy for Record of the Year.
Is Miley Cyrus Going on Tour?
While Miley has expressed her ill feelings toward touring in the past, a source told In Touch in November 2024 that she’s seriously considering it.
“The conversation around Miley’s touring plans in 2025 has heated up during the last two months,” the insider claimed. “It’s been years since Miley has done a full-scale tour. Instead, she has surgically focused on songwriting and recording and she’s been rewarded with huge success on that front. But facing the fans in giant arenas on multiple continents can make her a fortune – and at some point, it’s just irresponsible to turn your back on that kind of money.”
