Mom Shares Dog's Way of Coping With Newborn Crying: 'In the Trenches'

A dog is going viral online for not coping so well with a newborn in the house.

Ally Newton, 29, posted a short clip on TikTok of her newborn crying on her lap and her Siberian husky, Wayne, who looked as though he was struggling to deal with the noise.

Newton, from Nevada, told Newsweek that she was getting ready to nurse her one-and-a-half-month-old when she happened to look down and see Wayne with his eyes closed and head burrowed into his bed.

"I happened to look down and see my husky being ever so dramatic over hearing my baby cry," she said, adding that she pulled out her phone to film the scene for her husband who wasn't home at the time.

"I knew he would love the video, considering normal behavior for our dogs would be to join the baby while crying," Newton added.

The 29-year-old said that Wayne normally sleeps in their room, but since the baby arrived, he prefers to sleep out in the living room occasionally. The video shows the moments after Newton went into the living room so she can watch TV while she nurses her baby.

"As soon as she started crying, he put his head down as if he was the one up with the baby all night," she told Newsweek.

Newton's clip, pinned to her profile, is a viral sensation on TikTok with over 24 million views. It also clocked up almost 17,000 comments from other users, many of whom commented on Wayne's reaction to his owners' newborn crying.

"Oh the husky thinks this is too much noise?", one user questioned, while another wrote, "They sleep with their head down when they have a headache."

Huskies are known for being energetic and vocal dogs, often howling rather than barking. They're usually very expressive, so Wayne's reaction may be his way of tuning out the noise or even showing some patience.

After she stopped recording, Newton finished nursing her baby, however Wayne stayed in that position for a few minutes longer.

"He did eventually get up and go out back for some fresh air," she added.
