Speaking on Dexerto’s Clickbaited show, MrBeast opened up about a specific incident that made him “hate” being known as YouTube’s most-subscribed content creator.
Jimmy ‘MrBeast‘ Donaldson is at the height of his fame, hosting Amazon Prime’s Beast Games show with a record-breaking number of contestants and a $10M grand prize. He also boasts over 360M subscribers on his main YouTube channel alone — but being a famous online figure isn’t always sunshine and roses.
MrBeast starred on Dexerto’s Clickbaited show to discuss his career, revealing one specific incident at an airport that made him regret his celebrity status.
MrBeast says this incident made him “hate” being famous
Donaldson explained he was waiting in a two-hour-long line at customs for one of his ‘$1 vs’ series, where he and his team compare luxury hotels, cruises and more versus budget options.
At this point, the YouTube star hadn’t slept in around two days and had been “living” on airplanes for the duration of filming.
He was exhausted, and not in the mood to be recognized… but of course, that didn’t stop a young fan from looking up at him and loudly exclaiming, ‘MrBeast!’ for everyone in the airport to hear.
“Obviously, a bunch of people recognized me, and they’re asking for photos,” he explained.
“I’m just sandwiched in this line with a long wait time, and people are running up and down the line.
“In that instance, I was just like, ‘I hate being famous.’ I asked one of the TSA people, ‘Can I just go to the front? I don’t mean to have an ego, but this is brutal.'”

Unfortunately, the agent couldn’t give MrBeast special treatment. His assistant ended up waiting in line for him while he took a break in a “janitor closet” away from the horde of fans trying to meet him.
In fact, MrBeast revealed that he was even followed by one fan while driving, explaining that he has to tint his windows beyond legal regulations in order to prevent himself from being “doxxed” by overzealous viewers.
Despite incidents like these, however, MrBeast tries to keep a positive mindset, actively reminding himself that, for his fans, this is a moment they’ll never forget.
“I just try to remind myself that, for them, I might be the only ‘celebrity’ — If you’d classify me as one — that they ever meet, and for them, this might be a big deal. …they’re never gonna forget it. I have to put myself in that frame of mind.”
