My Chemical Romance have finally broken their silence after the tragic death of their drummer Bob Bryar at the age of only 44.
News of the star’s passing was reported on November 29, weeks after he was last sighted in public on November 4. Bob was discovered at his home in Tennessee on November 27, with no foul play suspected. TMZ revealed that two dogs were recovered from the property by animal control specialists, and grimly added that the musician’s body was “badly decomposed” upon discovery. A cause of death has not as yet been revealed.
Immediately after news of the loss of Bob broke, his old band chose to issue a statement requesting space as they processed his death. "The band asks for your patience and understanding as they process the news of Bob's passing,” the band shared via the Rolling Stone magazine.

The group posted a photo of Bob playing the drums during a show, along with a heartfelt message. “It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to Bob Bryar, our former bandmate and an important part of the history of My Chemical Romance. We send our deepest condolences to his friends and family at this time,” they wrote.
While Bob is best known for his work with My Chemical Romance, he wasn’t in the band’s original line up. Bob started playing the drums at a young age, and studied sound engineering at university. He went on to work in music as a sound engineer and tour manager for other rock groups. He then stood in as My Chemical Romance’s drummer while they were on tour in Japan, and officially replaced the original drummer, Matt Pelissier, soon after the band released their second album, titled Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge which included the hit singles I'm Not Okay (I Promise) and Thank You for the Venom.
Bob reportedly “relearned” how to play the drums after joining the group, having set his musical skills on the back burner while focused on sound engineering. While touring in 2007, Bob was forced to step back from the band due to a wrist injury which interfered with his ability to drum, but he continued to work with the group on the road by assisting with pyrotechnics and special effects. He left the band in March 2010 after working on music for their fourth album. Bob went on to work in real estate while also continuing to take a role in the music industry by working behind-the-scenes on tours - before officially retiring from music in 2021.
