Alpha Prime Racing has announced Mason Maggio as the new driver for their No. 45 Chevrolet Camaro at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
The 20-year-old's racing career, including his experience in both the NASCAR Xfinity Series and the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, offers a glimpse into his potential on the track. Maggio is relatively new to the NASCAR Xfinity Series. He has competed in just one other Xfinity Series race this year and took part in five races last season.
He has completed in 11 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series races this season, a personal record. His achievements include a career-high 18th-place finish at Talladega Superspeedway on October 4th while representing No. 22 Reaume Brothers Racing. Last year, he took part in six races, and in 2022 he raced in four.
The race at Homestead-Miami Speedway is a huge opportunity for Maggio. The support and advanced resources provided by Alpha Prime Racing present Maggio with potentially the most competitive setup he has driven in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.
Maggio shared the news to social media along with the Alpha Prime Racing team. He wrote:
"Racing in the home state this weekend. Excited to be working with @TeamAlphaPrime and the 45 team this Saturday with Sparks Boat Works & F2 Ocean Coating riding with us as our primary partners. Ready to rip the fence for 200 laps around @HomesteadMiami!"
Maggio joined Ryan Ellis and Brennan Poole, who are also competing with Alpha Prime Racing. Although Maggio is not able to score any championship points this weekend, Ellis is currently in the 23rd position in the standings with 398 and Poole is in 16th with 515 points. Unfortunately, neither driver is in the Xfinity Series Playoffs.
