NASCAR driver Matt Mills was taken to hospital following a fiery collision during the Baptist Health 200 for the Craftsman Truck Series.

Matt Mills was caught in a horrific wreck with rival Connor Jones at Homestead-Miami Speedway but was thankfully able to get out of the car. He was promptly taken to the hospital for evaluation, as confirmed by FOX Sports reporter Bob Pockrass, who shared:

"Matt Mills being taken to hospital. Obviously he got out of his truck after the fire and hard hit. Jones declined comment after the race."

Connor Jones has garnered attention for his bold and aggressive racing style. Frustrated with the race dynamics in Miami, Jones communicated his dissatisfaction via team audio, stating:

"I'm getting f***ing run over, left and f***ing right. I'm done." This outburst came before the collision with Mills.

NASCAR officials responded swiftly, imposing a two-lap penalty on Jones, effectively dashing his prospects of finishing among the race leaders.

There have not been any further updates on Mills's condition at this time.

This comes roughly a month after Mills signed a 2025 contract with Niece Motorsports. Commenting on the deal at the time, Mills explained:

"I'm extremely fortunate to have people like JF Electric and Utilitra coming on board and supporting me on this journey again.

"It's been a really fun time with everyone at Niece Motorsports with what we've been able to build on throughout the year. I'm hoping to carry that on through the next few races and into the 2025 season.

"Every opportunity I get, I'm very fortunate, and that wouldn't be possible without my partners. I appreciate Niece Motorsports for believing in me; it's a dream come true to race for an operation like theirs and race for Al Niece. I'm excited to finish off the year strong and ready to keep working into next year."

Niece GM Cody Efaw also addressed the contract:

"Matt has been a great add to our team this year.

"Even though he's been racing in NASCAR for a long time, he entered this season with a fresh mindset. The Truck Series is a completely different animal compared to what he's been used to racing, and he'll be the first to tell you how much he's learned. He knows the feel he needs out of his truck now, and I think we'll have a chance to go out there and have a great year with him."
