Netflix’s Polo, a docuseries executive produced by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, is looking to do for the glitzy horse and mallet sport what the Drive to Survive series did for Formula 1 and Full Swing did for professional golf.

Those earlier Netflix docuseries helped drive new interest to pro sports looking for younger and new fans, and possibly new ancillary revenue streams.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Archewell Productions is behind the fly-on-the-wall look at global stars and teams competing at the high-stakes U.S. Open Polo Championship in Wellington, Florida. “For sure it’s glamorous. It’s a sexy sport too. Dirty, sweaty boys, riding,” the mother of Timmy Dutta, a young player with team Dutta Corp, says at one point in the trailer.

Over five episodes, Polo, to debut Dec. 10, follows top global players on and off the field as they compete at the sport’s highest level.

“This series offers audiences an unprecedented, behind-the-scenes look into the passion and determination driving some of the world’s elite polo players, revealing the grit behind the glamor. We’re proud to showcase the true depth and spirit of the sport — and the intensity of its high-stakes moments,” Prince Harry said in a statement on Netflix’s Tudum blog site.

The docuseries also produced by Boardwalk Pictures features Adolfo Cambiaso of Team Valiente, a star polo athlete set to compete against his son, 17-year-old son Poroto Cambiaso of Team La Dolfina. “I’m very proud of my son. But I try to beat him,” father Cambiaso says in the trailer as he competes for coveted championship title.
