Today Apple released long-awaited USB-C updates for its trio of Mac accessories: the Magic Keyboard, Magic Trackpad, and Magic Mouse. The Apple Store currently only shows one, very pricey version of the new Magic Keyboard available. But don’t worry, you can still get a USB-C Magic Keyboard in several different variations and at lower costs.
USB-C Magic Keyboards available now for standalone purchase
The Apple Store prominently features just one new USB-C Magic Keyboard: the model with Touch ID and Numeric Keypad.
This has led to a lot of initial confusion about whether the more compact model, free from number pad, is still available.
Good news: it is, and you can still get it with or without Touch ID.
Here’s the full lineup of USB-C Magic Keyboard options Apple currently sells:
- Magic Keyboard at $99: This is the compact model without Touch ID.
- Magic Keyboard with Touch ID at $149: Compact model with Touch ID.
- Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and Numeric Keypad at $179 for white, $199 for black: The largest, most feature-rich keyboard, and the only one available in two color options.
The new M4 iMac includes these USB-C accessories, but you can also buy them entirely standalone.
The new USB-C Magic Keyboard is available for immediate purchase, with shipping options that can get it to you within the next couple days.
Perhaps you’ll even be able to start using yours before Apple’s expected M4 Mac mini update is announced in the days ahead.
