The finalists for the Associated Press 2024 NFL Most Valuable Player award have been announced, with Josh Allen, Saquon Barkley, Joe Burrow, Jared Goff, and Lamar Jackson all in the running.
Additionally, Barkley, Burrow, and Jackson are also finalists for Offensive Player of the Year, and Burrow is vying for Comeback Player of the Year honors.
The winners will be revealed at the NFL Honors ceremony on February 6. A nationwide panel of 50 media members who regularly cover the league cast their votes prior to the start of the playoffs.
Here's a look at the standout performances from the MVP finalists:
- Josh Allen: Allen led the Buffalo Bills to their fifth straight AFC East title, throwing for 3,731 yards, 28 touchdowns, and six interceptions with a 101.4 passer rating. He also added 531 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns.
- Saquon Barkley: Barkley rushed for 2,005 yards, marking the eighth-best single-season performance in NFL history. Although he sat out Philadelphia's final regular-season game when he was 101 yards shy of breaking Eric Dickerson's record, Barkley was crucial in the Eagles' NFC East title run and their eventual conference championship appearance.
- Joe Burrow: Burrow posted a career-high 4,918 passing yards and 43 touchdowns, leading the NFL in both categories. Despite the impressive individual numbers, the Cincinnati Bengals finished with a 9-8 record and missed the playoffs.
- Jared Goff: Goff had a strong season, throwing for 4,629 yards and 37 touchdowns while leading Detroit to the top NFC seed. However, the Lions were eliminated in the divisional round by Washington.
- Lamar Jackson: The reigning MVP, Jackson is aiming for his third MVP title. He led the Baltimore Ravens to an AFC North title, setting career highs with 4,172 passing yards, 41 touchdowns, and a 119.6 passer rating, which topped the NFL. Jackson also rushed for 915 yards and four touchdowns. The Ravens fell to the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round.
