DIY SOS star Nick Knowles, 62, has given fans a glimpse into his gruelling recover after two huge surgeries.
The BBC host shared a video on Instagram today, showing him working his way up some stairs. Nick was aided by crutches, with a medical professional also lending him support. The Strictly Come Dancing star wore shorts, revealing a hefty brace covering his left leg, and visibly strained as he slowly made his way up step by step.
Alongside the video, Nick wrote: “So it wasn’t on my letter to Santa for two major operations - one to reattach my bicep and a second to build a new ACL and mend two years in the meniscus. Thank you to my two magnificently talented surgeons - Mr Ahrens for the bicep and Mr Jig Patel for the knee
“Three types of knee brace and one type of elbow brace - crutches - game ready ice and pressure machine - pressure leggings - physio stretching out for months ahead but I want to be walking normally by start of February for the next DIYSOS.”

It’s been frustrating and very expensive but I’m determined to get back to 100% fitness which I hope will be around August 2025 Thanks for all the well wishes and encouragement - happy new year all.”
Nick was on Strictly this year, and had to pull out of one of the live shows in October after badly injuring his knee during rehearsals. He was then the third celebrity to leave the show, but admitted he “played down” his injuries before being voted out. One of Nick’s injuries took hold during a dress rehearsal with pro partner Luba Mushtuk, who reportedly saw the star land badly after a jump. It came just weeks after the TV host hurt his shoulder and arm while changing a car tire.
In a chat with fellow Strictly competitor Wynne Evans on his BBC Radio Wales programme, Nick shared recently: "I was trying to play it down, because I was determined to go out dancing rather than sort of go out with the injury... I had the operation four weeks ago and that's all recovering quite nicely."
Nick is being supported by his fiancée Katie Dadzie, who runs a lingerie company. The couple got engaged in 2023 after meeting through their children, and hope to marry next year. Nick has shared that his dream of dancing at the wedding is one of the major goals fuelling his tough recovery. "We've booked our wedding for next summer and the plan is for us to be able to do a first dance,” he shared. “It won't be a full Strictly routine but I'm determined to have a special dance with Katie.”
