Fans of One Direction could be in for a huge reunion as the band could be set to come back together on stage for the first time since their split in 2016 in honour of Liam Payne.
Liam tragically passed away on October 16 last year at just 31, after falling from a third-floor balcony at a hotel in Argentina. An autopsy revealed that he died instantly from "multiple traumatic injuries" which led to "internal and external haemorrhage."
Reports have surfaced indicating that the BRIT Awards intend to pay tribute to the late singer, who leaves behind seven-year-old son Bear, who he shared with former X Factor judge Cheryl Cole.
Sources reported by the Mirror have hinted that the remaining One Direction members Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan might reunite for a performance in memory of their beloved friend and former bandmate.
A source disclosed to The Sun: "The tribute to Liam at this year's awards show has caused a real buzz and speculation that the remaining One Direction bandmates could finally come back together again on stage. It would be an entirely fitting way to honour Liam and talks are already under way about how to make this segment of the BRITs unforgettable."
The source also mentioned that One Direction wouldn't be taking the stage alone, hinting that other artists may join in paying tribute. Throughout their career, the band has accumulated seven BRIT Awards since being put together on the ITV talent show back in 2010.
An insider from the show shared that Liam "loved" the event and suggested that he will always be a significant part of the show's legacy.

The source continued, "It's still in the very early stages of preparation and the finer details are still being worked out, with official approaches to be made in coming weeks. But there are set to be a mixture of performances, tasteful photo and video montages and a live orchestra."
Clevedon Pier has recently revealed a plaque honouring Liam for a very special reason. Liam, along with his former bandmates from One Direction, famously shot parts of their 'You and I' music video on the pier on March 25, 2014.
On Twitter, the official Clevedon Pier account posted a picture of the new plaque beside the one documenting their historic day on the pier. The inscription reads, "Remembering Liam Payne One Direction. 29.08.1993 16.10.2024."
It also includes the line, "If you're lost just look for me, you'll find me in the region of the summer stars," taken from the band's song Walking in the Wind.
