The OnePlus Open is, even a year after its launch, one of the best book-style foldables on the market today, but the brand has yet to attempt the flip-style form factor. According to a new rumor, though, OnePlus may be looking to put out a “Flip” foldable device as soon as next year.
Digital Chat Station says that OnePlus is planning a flip-style foldable that would be “tentatively” scheduled for Q2 2025.
OnePlus was rumored to be working on a Flip a few years ago, well before the OnePlus Open hit the market, but the brand hasn’t touched on the possibility in some time now despite Oppo putting out the Find N3 Flip, one of the better flip-style foldables available on the market today.
This latest rumor, however, suggests that OnePlus would be launching this device as a part of its “Ace” line, suggesting that it will be sold in China rather than on the global market.
There’s not much said regarding the specs or design of this device, but it seems likely that it would end up inspired by Oppo’s Find N-series, though there’s been no word just yet on the company’s plans for a new flip-style foldable since the launch of 2023’s Find N3 Flip.
This comes as another dubious rumor is making the rounds that Oppo, and in turn OnePlus, would stop making high-end foldables. A “Flip” style foldable would surely be on the more affordable end of the spectrum, though.
Meanwhile, the OnePlus 13 is expected to hit the global market in the near future.
