Original AAWireless is no longer available as AAWireless TWO gets fresh restock

After successfully launching the idea of a wireless Android Auto adapter, the original AAWireless seems to be going away as its sequel becomes more broadly available.

The first AAWireless device launched in 2020 with the idea of turning a wired Android Auto connection into a wireless one. It was a bold idea at the time but, impressively, it worked from the very start. After a successful crowdfunding campaign the device started shipping to customers and eventually hit the broader market. The price came down over time too.

Now, though, a sequel is available, so the question has remained regarding whether or not the original would remain on the market.

Increasingly, it’s looking like the answer is no.

For the past week or so, the original AAWireless has been out of stock on Amazon. When asked for comment regarding the status of the original adapter, AAWireless couldn’t provide a firm answer on whether or not the device would be coming back, which implies it probably isn’t.

This comes as stock of AAWireless TWO is starting to stabilize, with another fresh batch of devices now available for order and shipping in late November. Backordered devices are still making their way to customers, but the ability to actually submit an order has been fluctuating since the launch in October.

For most customers, TWO is a better option in the first place, as the device has updated hardware and a new physical button that makes it easier to switch between connected phones. The only downside at the moment is that, where the original adapter supported CarPlay in beta, AAWireless TWO does not. “AAWireless TWO+” will add CarPlay when it launches early next year.
