First look at the Outnumbered festive special shown on Morning Live

Outnumbered buffs were left gutted when a shocker dropped within seconds of the 2024 festive special's opening scene.

After an eight-year hiatus since the last holiday episode in 2016, the Brockman clan is back on our tellies aiming for a classic family Yuletide. However, Hugh Dennis' character Pete is set to deliver some heart-wrenching news - he's battling cancer.

While Claire Skinner's Sue attempts to whip up some Christmas cheer, their now-adult offspring Jake (Tyger Drew-Honey), Ben (Daniel Roche), and Karen (Ramona Marquez) are wrestling with their own dramas.

But what really threw fans for a loop was the bombshell that Pete and Sue had upped sticks from their old pad since we last caught up with them.

"IM SO SAD THEY MOVED HOUSE OMG," one fan blurted out on X (formerly Twitter), reports the Mirror.

"Thought the Outnumbered special episode was going to be happy and nostalgic but they've moved house and Pete is dying," another viewer lamented.

"What do you mean they MOVED in outnumbered I don't like it," someone else chimed in, clearly rattled.

"Right. Nah. Why have they moved house," read another peeved tweet.

"They moved, I don't like it!" declared another, chucking in a laughing emoji for good measure.

"The kids have kids, they've got a new house and Pete's got cancer. I can't cope," a different fan confessed.

The big reveal about the Brockmans' change of digs was clear as day right from the get-go, with the opening scene unfolding on an entirely new street.

The long-awaited one-off Christmas special featured the family coming together to celebrate the festive season. A synopsis for the show explained: "In a moment of adversity, Sue and Pete gather all their offspring, including one grandchild, to try to celebrate a traditional family Christmas."

Could the latest reunion on BBC One mark the start of more Brockman antics?

Outnumbered’s Christmas Special 2024 is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
