Ozzy Osbourne is secretly working on plans for a farewell show despite struggling to walk or stand on stage.
The 76-year-old rocker wants to reunite with his rock band Black Sabbath for an emotional final performance. News of Ozzy’s return comes amid the Brummie star’s ongoing issues with his leg, back and neck, which has left him unable to perform.
He didn’t sing at his Rock’N’Roll Hall Of Fame inauguration despite trying for months to build up the strength to belt out his greatest hits like Iron Man, War Pigs and Paranoid. But Sabbath bandmate Geezer Butler detailed that his long term pal is plotting an unlikely comeback against the odds.
“Ozzy was talking to me about, when he does his farewell concert, which he still wants to do, he’s dying to still get out there and play; and he suggested, at his very final concert, for the four of us to get up on stage and maybe do three or four songs together,” said Butler to LifeMinute in the US. “And that would be it, finished.”
The news will be a delight to Ozzy fans, who have feared that the singer would never perform again after shying away from the Rock’N’Roll gig last month. Ozzy cancelled his farewell tour after falling to recover well enough for a tour. However he and Tony Iommi performed Paranoid at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Sabbath performed a farewell tour ending in 2017.
In 2020, Ozzy admitted he would be happy to take his final breath on stage with a farewell performance. "If my life ended on a stage, so be it. That's the place I belong." The singer, who is also battling Parkinsons, confessed that he had to be taken to his dressing room at the inauguration in a wheelchair.
Despite suffering a 2019 fall and numerous surgeries and much physiotherapy, he can still walk just a couple of feet now. “I thought I’d be back on my feet months ago,” he admitted. Earlier the month it was reported that Ozzy had signed a massive deal to write a second memoir about the last two decades.
The book will give insight into how his life has changed after the accident, his infidelity to Sharon and near split, therapy and his recent honour. Ozzy will spill on his ongoing battle with addictions - and how he is now at peace having a little marijuana now and then.
Wife Sharon, 72, is said to have had a hand in brokering the deal.
