P Diddy's prison has drugs and weapons seized as officers sweep Brooklyn jail

2 weeks ago 4

The prison where P Diddy is being held has had drugs, weapons and electronic devices seized in a sweep by federal authorities.

The disgraced 55-year-old rapper has been locked up at Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) after being arrested in September. He faces federal charges of sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy and transportation to engage in prostitution and denied all allegations against him.

The music mogul, whose real name is Sean Combs, has been incarcerated at the infamous prison while he awaits his trial, which is set to take place in May 2025. Federal authorities have confirmed began an interagency sweep of the MDC on Monday of last week.

The Bureau of Prisons said the sweep was unrelated to Combs but instead a "preplanned and coordinated to ensure the safety and security" of prison staff and detainees. The jail has been under scrutiny after two men were stabbed to death in the summer, with five inmates charged with murder.

Federal authorities have confirmed the sweep is nothing to do with the rapper's detention

Four other inmates and a guard were charged with assaults over other incidents that included a man being stabbed 44 times by three gang members. Another incident at the jail, which holds 1,200 people, saw an inmate stabbed in the spine with a homemade ice pick.

An MDC corrections officer was charged with shooting at a car during a high-speed chase that was unauthorised. US attorney Breon Peace said: "Violence will not be tolerated in our federal jails."

He said the charges should serve as a "warning to those who would engage in criminal conduct behind bars, and anyone else who facilitates those crimes: your conduct will be exposed, and you will be held accountable."

The New York City slammer has held the likes of convicted child sex abuser R. Kelly and Ghislaine Maxwell. Prison expert James Pipe has revealed what Diddy's gruelling prison routine likely looks like - and it seems like he's not getting any VIP treatment.

Diddy has denied sex trafficking and racketeering charges

Speaking on behalf of Free Grants for Felons, he said: "Combs’ time at MDC reflects the routines and regulations set for all inmates, designed to balance operational security with the needs of those housed at the facility. As Combs awaits trial, he will experience the daily regimen shared by past high-profile inmates, with limited but structured access to basic resources."

Diddy and his fellow inmates will be experiencing regular lockdowns during their time at the prison so staff can complete cell checks, head counts and maintenance. These periods ensure security and restrict movement within the facility at specific times.

The rapper has designated hours for exercise and recreation in the prison's "limited" recreational areas. Combs has access to the prison's library during specific time slots and is allowed to communicate with approved contacts for personal and legal purposes.
