Patrick Dempsey is revealing that there have been talks about his potential return to the Scream franchise as Kincaid.

The actor appeared on Today on Thursday to discuss The Dempsey Center, which provides comprehensive cancer care at no cost. While speaking on the morning talk show, he also opened up about Scream 7 and how Neve Campbell is returning for the installment after not appearing in the sixth one due to a salary dispute.

Campbell’s Sidney and Dempsey’s Kincaid are married in the Scream universe, so when the talk show hosts asked if he could potentially come back to fight Ghostface, he shared it’s possible.

“I’m waiting on the script,” the Grey’s Anatomy star said on the morning show. “There has been a conversation about it. I haven’t seen anything yet, so we’ll see what happens. … It’s always good to have a job.”

Dempsey entered the universe in the third movie as a Los Angeles detective investigating the murders of people associated with the latest slasher movie adaptation, Stab 3. It was eventually confirmed off-camera that Kincaid married Sidney and remained together in Scream (2022) and Scream VI (2003), which referenced his character.

In a separate conversation with People, the Ferrari star expanded a bit more on the chances of him coming back after not being in an installment since the third film.

“In this business, you never know what’s going to happen,” he explained. “But if the opportunity opens itself up and it becomes a reality, then I’ll definitely take it seriously.”

Up next, Dempsey will appear in the Dexter prequel, Original Sin. He’ll portray Aaron Spencer, the captain of the Miami Metro Homicide who has a decades-long relationship with Christian Slater’s Harry Morgan.

“The whole culture on Dexter: Original Sin has been a wonderful journey,” he said at a different point on Today. “A great group of people. We’re having so much fun and the crew, the cast and the scripts are fantastic.”
