Celebrity Love Island's Paul Danan reportedly died after suffering a 'slip and fall' in an upmarket flat near Bristol. News of the 46 year old's death was announced on Thursday, as his representatives confirmed the heartbreaking news while paying homage to Paul as a 'beacon of light.'
A statement from his management read: "It is with heavy hearts that we share the tragic news of the passing of Paul Danan at just 46 years old. Known for his television presence, exceptional talent, and unwavering kindness, Paul was a beacon of light to so many. His untimely departure will leave irreplaceable voids in the lives of all who knew him."
"During this difficult time, we kindly request respect and privacy for Paul's family, friends, and colleagues. No further comments will be made at this time."
Reports had emerged suggesting neighbours saw emergency services rush to a swanky residence in Bristol on Wednesday evening. Including one from the Daily Mail, which indicates the TV personality, famous for playing Sol Patrick on Hollyoaks, had an accidental 'slip and fall', reports the Mirror.
Just recently, Avon and Somerset Police gave an update regarding the sudden death of the Celebrity Love Island star. They said: "Officers attended a property in Brislington, Bristol, at around 5.20pm yesterday (Wednesday 15 January) where sadly a man in his 40s was declared deceased by paramedics.
"His family have been notified and our thoughts are with them. They have asked for people to respect their privacy during this incredibly difficult time.
"His death is not being treated as suspicious and officers are preparing a file for the coroner."
Paul was due to appear in court over driving and drug offences the day his death was announced. He was set to enter a plea at Warrington Magistrates' Court in Cheshire after being charged with being in possession of several bags of cocaine as well as a 'quantity' of cannabis, as said in court documents.
He was also accused of driving a vehicle whilst under the influence of drugs on October 2, 2024, in Warrington. Six months before his tragic death, Paul suffered a near-death experience as he fell ill with respiratory failure which he said was due to his addiction to vaping.
Paul ended up in intensive care and was also treated for pneumonia during his stay at Whipps Cross Hospital. The doctor issued a stark warning to the star, telling Paul that he could end up on oxygen if he smoked again.
Paul developed his vaping addiction after stopping cigarettes in 2021. The soap actor and reality star revealed he was under the impression that vaping was "healthier".
However, his addiction soon turned to vaping and he "got obsessed". He said: "Everywhere I went I'd have my vape with me. I'd always have one in my hand, I would even go to sleep with it, like a comfort thing."
He recounted his harrowing hospital experience, attributing his admission to his vaping habit: "I was on a machine in ICU and ended up with pneumonia. My family were warned that I might not make it through the night. I'm so lucky."
Paul also received a dire warning from his doctor, who told him bluntly that smoking again could land him on an oxygen tank.
