Hit Netflix series You have released a trailer for a new season, and have confirmed this will be the last.

Fans were delighted to catch a glimpse of season five ahead of its release date – April 24. The psychological thriller show follows Joe Goldberg, played by Penn Badgely, as he stalks various women over the seasons – engaging in some very creepy and often murderous behaviour. Despite his flaws, plenty of fans fell in love with serial killer Joe over the years.

Previously, Joe had finished his job in London and headed back to New York. During season one, he'd been running a bookshop called Mooney's in the Big Apple.

It looks like things are going to come full circle for Joe as he seems to have returned to his roots and reprised his former position. In the trailer, it seems he is still keeping people in cages – and many are not happy, understandably.

Over shots of the bookstore, Joe could be heard saying: "Here we are, together again, back to where it began."The final shot displayed his iconic glass cage in the basement, where the show kicked off.

Joe described several "complications." But, in his words, they "led [him] here now, to where [he] was always meant to be."

Netflix captioned the trailer, which they had shared to X, "Back to where it all started. The killer finale of YOU is coming to Netflix April 24."

Fans flocked to the comments section to express their excitement – but also sadness – with the show officially coming to an end. One viewer wrote: "Goodbye, You," with a sad emoji.

Another added: "All of us losing our minds over this trailer." A third said: "I'd definitely die to see this."

A fourth slightly critical fan appeared to have a change of heart: "I loved this show but could not get into the last season. Returning to "where it all started" may motivate my a*** to finish that season."

Last year, showrunner Sera Gamble announced she was stepping back for the new season, and paid tribute to co-stars in a lengthy statement.

Sera confirmed: “As I step back from day-to-day showrunning to focus on new projects, I’m immensely grateful to co-creator and all-around genius Greg Berlanti, Caroline Kepnes, my friends at Berlanti Productions and Alloy Entertainment, and our steadfast partners at Warner Bros and Netflix.

“I’m proud of what we’ve all accomplished and feel privileged to pass the torch. I’m excited to watch and support the You team as they bring Joe Goldberg’s journey to its delightfully twisted conclusion.”

Executive producers Michael Foley and Justin W. Lo will take over for Gamble.
