Peter Andre has spoken out about his fears for his children after a 14-year-old schoolboy was stabbed to death on a London bus, with the former singer admitting he was 'petrified' for his own kids
Pride of Britain: Peter Andre on red carpet with Princess and JuniorPeter Andre has expressed his fear for his own children following the tragic stabbing of 14-year-old London schoolboy Kelyan Bokassa. The teenager was fatally stabbed on a bus last week, with tributes now adorning a bus stop in Woolwich, South East London.
Despite paramedics' best efforts, Kelyan died shortly after the incident which occurred around 2.30pm last Tuesday. Reacting to the distressing news, singer Peter shared his concerns for his two teenage children, Junior, 19, and Princess, 17, in his weekly column for New! Magazine.
The father-of-five wrote: "It was so tragic to hear about the 14-year-old boy, Kelyan Bokassa, who was stabbed on a London bus. I can't imagine that feeling as a parent. I remember when Junior and Princess started to go on trains – I was petrified."
He added: "Sometimes I wouldn't let them but then I thought, you need to let kids grow up and can't wrap cotton wool around them. But the problem is, the world is unsafe and you can't protect them all of the time. My heart aches for that young boy's family. Knife crime is a real issue that needs to be dealt with. My thoughts are with his family."
Kelyan, an aspiring drill rapper known by the stage name Grippa, was killed in an area notorious for gang violence. Witnesses reported seeing two boys, one brandishing a "massive machete", fleeing the scene. The Met Police have yet to make any arrests and are appealing for information, reports the Mirror.
With kids shared with ex Katie Price, and kids Millie, Theo, and Arabella with present wife Emily MacDonagh, Peter shares a close relationships with all of his kids.
At last year's Pride Of Britain Awards, Pete mentioned to The Mirror the strength of their connection, stating: "It's so important for us to come as a family and bring the kids. J and P [Junior and Princess] are adults now and they still want to come with us. Every single year. We love it."
He further stated: "If we don't go to any other event, it doesn't matter. This is the only event we want to go to because of what it stands for. When you come here and hear the stories, it's just so inspirational. And every year gets bigger and better. You never think you can top it."
