Peter Andre has shared a heart-wrenching update after visiting his parents in Australia. In 2023, he disclosed that his 88-year-old mother, Thea, has been diagnosed with Parkinson's and Alzheimer's.
Thea resides in Australia with Peter's father, Savvas, as she grapples with her deteriorating health. Last year, Peter commemorated their 69th wedding anniversary and paid tribute to them, acknowledging at the time how "really tough it is to see your parents age or become ill."
Now, the 51-year-old singer, who is a father to Theo, Amelia, 10, and baby girl Arabella with his wife Emily, as well as Junior, 19, and Princess, 17, with his ex Katie Price, has returned from his trip Down Under to visit his ailing mother and has given a heartbreaking update.
Speaking exclusively to OK! in his column, he said: "Being with my mum and dad in Australia was incredible, but understandably also very emotional. I went with my brother, Michael, and we got to spend quality time with my sister as well.
"The hardest bit for me is leaving them. Both Mum and Dad are on the decline, unfortunately, especially my mum.
"Every moment was incredible. Thank you to everyone for all the lovely messages I received when I was there. Even though I know it's part of life, I can assure you it doesn't make it any easier to deal with. I should be back there very soon for the premier of my upcoming film Jafaica, which will be amazing."
In January 2023, he took a trip to Australia with Emily and his kids Junior and Princess to visit his parents. He expressed that being with his parents "meant the world" to him and described the experience of watching their health deteriorate as 'cruel'.
After posting pictures from his holiday on Instagram, Pete responded to some supportive comments from fans, saying: "We worry every single day as it takes hold. I will cherish every moment I have."
In another response, he reiterated: "It's so cruel seeing it take hold."
In December, following the announcement that he and Emily are expecting a baby, he revealed that he had chosen not to share the news with his mother due to her ongoing health struggles.
He explained that these battles have been "very difficult" in recent years and he decided to keep his joyous news under wraps in case there were complications with Emily's pregnancy.
