Pixel Screenshots update tweaks UI ahead of auto-filters & ‘proactive recall’

2 weeks ago 5

Pixel Screenshots is getting a major Gboard integration with the December 2024 Feature Drop. Ahead of that, the required Pixel Screenshots version is here with some UI tweaks, but the “Show suggestions from your screenshots in other apps” functionality is not yet live.

Version 0.24.433.15 of Pixel Screenshots is rolling out today via Google Play. After updating, a new model is downloaded, but the major features are not yet live. However, strings provide more details on what to expect.

Once rolled out, there will be a new “Get suggestions in Gboard” settings toggle. Google explains how you can: “See movie, music, product, and other text suggestions from your screenshots when searching in relevant apps.”

Meanwhile, the following filters above the grid of screenshots will soon be available: Articles, Events, Flight info, Lists, Social media, Movies, Music, Notes, Places, Product info, Profile info, Promos, Receipts, Recipes, Tracking info, Movies / TV, and Videos.

It will auto-organize your captures in lieu of manual cataloging with Collections. This presumably requires Pixel Screenshots to reprocess all the images currently on your device.

What’s live with this update are UI tweaks to Pixel Screenshots details page. The Share, Edit, and Reminder buttons have been moved to the top-right corner. The space under the image is now used for the deep link (YouTube, Chrome, etc.), while you now get various things to search for.
