A judge has closed Hunter Biden's federal gun case after his presidential pardon. On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika terminated all proceedings, citing President Joe Biden's executive grant of clemency. Special counsel David Weiss had objected to a full dismissal of the case, arguing a pardon did not absolve Hunter of any guilt and only removed the punishment. In legal filings yesterday, Weiss argued that the case be closed by noting the pardon was the final outcome of the case. Hunter had been scheduled to be sentenced later this month for gun charges and tax evasion. The pardon has been hugely divisive with lawmakers on both sides of the aisle criticizing Biden for going back on repeated promises that he would not pardon his son.
