Prince William has been married to Kate Middleton for over a decade. He dated her for several years before tying the knot. Still, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs saw the prince and his younger brother as potential eligible bachelors and party guests for several years. Several sources claim Diddy extended multiple invitations to the royal brothers regarding his now-infamous parties. But he stopped inviting the pair because of Prince William’s engagement, or, at the very least, this timing makes sense.
Sean ‘Diddy Combs’ wanted Prince William and Prince Harry to attend his parties
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is in a world of legal trouble. Much of that trouble stems from his alleged sex and drug-fueled “freak off” parties. According to Diddy’s former publicist, Rob Shuter, the music mogul was obsessed with having the princes appear at his parties. He told the BBC that Diddy asked him no fewer than 10 times to extend invitations to Prince Harry and Prince William.
Shuter only worked for Diddy for two years, suggesting the music mogul asked him personally to invite the princes to parties every few months. It’s unclear how many additional invitations he extended to Prince Harry and Prince William. The invitations reportedly abruptly stopped in 2010.
Why did Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs stop inviting Prince Harry and Prince William to his ‘freak off’ parties?
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs was obsessed with hosting the royal brothers at one of his parties. The obsession lasted for years. So what exactly made him quit trying? According to several sources, Diddy decided it was time to stop inviting the brothers around 2010.
During a 2011 interview for The Graham Norton Show, Diddy confirmed that he had invited Prince William and Prince Harry to his parties when they were “young bucks,” but they were no longer on the list. While Diddy didn’t confirm that Prince William’s engagement to Kate Middleton played a role in his decision to rescind the offer, it seems pretty clear it might have affected his invite status. Prince William announced his engagement to his longtime girlfriend in November 2010.
It took several years for Prince Harry to “settle down” with Meghan Markle. But it seems Diddy viewed the royal brothers as a package deal. It is unclear if the duo knew they were invited to Diddy’s parties or if their handlers declined the invitations without letting them know they were welcome. Either way, not accepting his invitations helped them sidestep a massive scandal.
