Sony adds new games to its PlayStation Plus subscription service every month, but this December is special as it celebrates the brand's 30th anniversary. The free PS Plus monthly games include It Takes Two and Aliens: Dark Descent, while PS Plus Premium members can play the classic Sly Cooper trilogy.
PS Plus Monthly Free Games for December 2024
Here are the monthly free games for PS Plus in December, available from December 3, 2024:
- It Takes Two (PS4, PS5)
- Aliens: Dark Descent (PS4, PS5)
- Temtem (PS5)
It Takes Two won the Game of the Year award at The Game Awards in 2021, becoming one of the best co-op games of this generation. The game requires two players to work together in couch co-op or online multiplayer to play through its narrative.
Aliens: Dark Descent is a real-time tactics game set nineteen years after the events of the first Alien movie. Temtem is a relaxing creature-collecting game that is not too dissimilar from Pokémon. Players can collect temtem, battle eight bosses in its story mode, and join forces with or against players in co-op and multiplayer.
PS Plus Premium Games for December 2024
Those subscribed to PS Plus Premium/Deluxe can look forward to playing the following titles starting December 10, 2024:
- Sly 2: Band of Thieves
- Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves
- Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy
The original Sly Cooper game, Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus, was added to PS Plus Premium in September last year. Fans of the franchise who originally played it on the PS2 have waited for over a decade to play the games on modern consoles. At the time of writing, it's unclear whether Sony intends to bring Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time to PS5, but it's more likely following the original Sly trilogy's arrival on PS Plus.
Sony has also revealed that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, the hit action game released earlier this year, will offer a two-hour trial for PS Plus Premium subscribers. The game trial will go live on December 3, 2024.
In celebration of its 30th anniversary, Sony has also revealed updated sales figures for its classic consoles, with the PS2 being the highest-selling console of all time. The company hasn't announced any PlayStation showcase to celebrate the event, but with The Game Awards fast approaching, we wouldn't be surprised to see a livestream take place soon.
PlayStation Plus is a monthly subscription service available on PS4 and PS5 consoles. The service's pricing starts at $9.99/month for the "Essential" tier, but you can save up to 30% on a subscription during the Black Friday sales week until December 2, 2024.
