The Met Gala is one of the biggest nights in fashion. Celebrities from all over the world come together and wear high-end outfits, and the proceeds go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The Real Housewives of New York City star Rebecca Minkoff recently revealed she has never been invited to this lavish event. Now, she’s offering up the one rule she broke that led to her not being on the coveted guest list.

As fans know, Rebecca joined RHONY this season as a ‘friend of’ for the second installment of the show’s reboot. Much like Jenna Lyons, she’s had a storied career in the fashion world.

Recently, Rebecca sat down for an interview with Page Six. Naturally, the RHONY star had much to discuss following her pregnancy prank that didn’t go over too well. One of the most interesting tidbits came when the topic of her not being invited to the Met Gala came up.

Apparently, this is the case because she once dared to get on an elevator with the legendary Anna Wintour. Or at least that’s the reason she assumes.

According to Rebecca, “You’re not allowed in the elevator with Anna. … I’ve been told that if she gets in the elevator, you can’t get in with her.”

She then detailed her encounter with the fashion icon, saying, “I was like, ‘Hello, how is everyone feeling today?’ [Wintour] just looked down. It got silent, it was awkward. I was like, right, right I must’ve missed the memo somewhere.”

Rebecca then went on to say that the elevator ride still haunts her to this day.

She explained, “I’m still overthinking it 15 years later. Maybe that’s why I’ve never been invited to the Met Gala.”

People who attend the Met Gala spare no expense in doing so. Reports say tickets are a hefty $75k, and those seeking a full table must dole out $350k.

Fans can watch Rebecca and the girls on RHONY on Tuesday nights.
