Reginae Carter has a stern message for those not exercising empathy for victims of the Los Angeles wildfires. Carter began speaking about the historic wildfires on her X/Twitter account Thursday (Jan. 9) after fans wondered whether she was okay. Lil Wayne’s daughter insisted that she was okay but was actively praying for everyone impacted and who may have lost their businesses or belongings.
“Pray as much as you can !!! Whenever you can! Because it’s a lot going on and the devil will try to make you feel like it’s no way out or it won’t get better,” Carter typed. “Praying to God makes you feel good and give you hope and reassurance that everything will be okay!”
However, the tone on social media hasn’t been as empathetic as Reginae hoped it would be, with netizens showing apathy for Californians thinking that it’s made up of celebrities and rich people.
“The way that i couldn’t care less about the fire in LA every influencer and celebrity have been posting about it and you expect me to care after y’all has been silent on Gaza, Lebanon, Sudan, Congo ect ect ?” one account typed. “It may sound cold of me, but I just don’t care about all these celebrities’ homes burning. How about we focus some of this attention on people whose lives are in ruin because of the LA fires who DON’T have umpteen homes spread across the world?” a subsequent account commented.
Reginae apparently caught wind of the negativity permeating social media and hit back at these “ignorant people.” She denounced them for their “weird” remarks and insisted that it shouldn’t matter how rich or poor someone is; nobody should have to lose their valuables, let alone their lives.
“I wanna tell the ignorant people something…it doesn’t matter how much money you have .. don’t nobody wanna see everything they worked so hard for…in Ashes! Like wtf is wrong with yall telling fortunate people to ‘just buy a new house’ like huh? Yall are weird,” she clapped back.
Reginae Carter isn’t the only celebrity clapping back at the perceived hateful comments. Jhene Aiko recently revealed that her home was “burned to the ground” and she’s now focusing on “starting from scratch” in the LA wildfires.
Netizens met her comments with apathy and stated that she has “Paris Hilton money” and would simply be able to replace everything she lost. Aiko hopped the comment section of The Shade Room where she blasted the comment with kindness. The Souled Out artist insisted that she “don’t got it like that.” However, Aiko stated that she is rich in family and love. “But I do have a big, loving family that is worth more than anything,” she expressed.
