Their team is expanding! Tim Tebow and his wife, Demi-Leigh Tebow, shared the exciting news that their family is growing and they are expecting their first child together.
“Baby Tebow,” the couple captioned an Instagram Reel on Tuesday, January 14, announcing the pregnancy. In the heartwarming clip, the expectant couple matched in white as the former Miss Universe, 29, proudly displayed her growing baby bump while strolling through a romantic field.
“Arriving this summer,” the video signed off.
The former professional athlete, 37, and the South African model gushed about becoming first-time parents in an interview with People published that same day.
“We are just so excited and so over the moon to be having a baby together,” Demi-Leigh, who’s now 16 weeks pregnant, told the outlet. Meanwhile, the Denver Broncos alum said he was “honored for the privilege of getting the responsibility and the joy of being mom and dad.”
Demi said her husband of five years was “extremely gracious,” which is why she believed he would make “such a great dad.”
“Tim is one of the most thoughtful people. He is literally one of the best gift-givers I have ever met,” she said about the athlete. “I just think that he’s one of the wisest people I have met — and I know that’s a bold statement to make, but I truly believe it. Just in the way that he approaches every single day.”
As for the quarterback, he said his wife “is going to be a fierce defender and protector.”
He explained, “She will be extremely loyal and loving. Demi is someone that is extremely determined. When she sets her mind to something, she goes all the way in — and I know that she will do that as a mom, too.” In addition, he said his wife’s pregnancy has completely changed his mindset on his outlook on life.
“It’s just amazing how it also reprioritizes and changes what you put an emphasis on and what you value most,” Tim continued. “News like that just supersedes the level of importance and the level of joy that you have. It’s just so cool.”
Tim and Demi-Leigh met in 2018 at the Tim Tebow Foundation’s annual event Night to Shine, which is a prom for people with special needs.
“Demi had a little sister with severe special needs. [She] was kind of our matchmaker,” Tim told Us Weekly in August 2024 of his wife’s late sister Franje, who had cerebellar agenesis and died in May 2019. “Demi and her family were invited [to Night of Shine], but unfortunately her sister was too sick to go. But through that, we connected and never stopped talking.”
Although the pair immediately felt a strong connection, the pageant queen confessed there was a “language barrier” when they started their relationship.
“Loving in a second language is different,” Demi-Leigh explained, asking the former football star, “Remember the first time after our first date, I told you, ‘Keep well,’ and you thought I was dismissing you?”
Tim remembered the early moment in their romance, noting, “Her first language is Afrikaans, not English,” since Demi-Leigh is from South Africa.
The pair wed in January 2020, after a yearlong engagement. Tim and Demi-Leigh are set to celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary on January 20.
