Ricky Gervais refuses to go to the doctor as he admits row over health with partner Jane

Ricky Gervais, the 63 year old legend of The Office, has confessed that despite being aware of how to maintain his health as he ages, he often lacks the motivation to put in the necessary effort. This attitude frustrates his partner, Jane Fallon.

During a conversation with Romesh Ranganathan, 46, on BBC Radio 2 this morning, the comedian discussed his health. When asked by Romesh, "How's life treating you? ", Ricky responded with a laugh, "Good, well good for 63, you know what I mean," The host then questioned whether Ricky had tried biohacking to slow down ageing.

Ricky admitted: "Well, I don't really, I never have cared too much about health - I like to stay active, I'm vegan, which helps."

The star of After Life added: "But it's not enough - there's this great documentary called Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones - and this guy has found out there's these places around the world where people regularly live until they're 95 - and it's what their lifestyle is.

"It's all to do with them being vegan, being active - they don't go to the gym, they don't jog - they're just gardening all the time and making their own bread. So I sort of know the rules, but I can't be bothered."

Ricky, who is currently on his Mortality stand-up tour, admitted to Romesh that he tends to rely on his girlfriend Jane to evaluate his health concerns, which can lead to disagreements.

Gervais humorously shared his health routine, confessing: "I don't even go to the doctor!

"I just go to Jane, 'what's that?' And she says, 'go to the doctor', then I go, 'so I am going to die then? Just say, no, it's nothing!', 'I'm not a doctor', 'Ok!'"

He went on to joke about his potential hypochondria, saying: "So, I fear... If I had a little doctor down in the basement, I'd be down every day going, 'what's that, what's this?'"

His banter with fellow comedian Romesh continued, as the host quipped, "What a job by the way, 'what do you do?', 'Oh I'm Ricky Gervais' basement doctor."

Ricky then added a cheeky remark: "You'd get through a lot of gloves - that's all I'm going to say!"
