Ricky Gervais has revealed a shocking monologue ahead of the Golden Globe Awards.

The comedian last presented the award ceremony four years ago and left the star-studded audience completely speechless. His last monologue saw him take aim at Titanic star Leonardo DiCaprio for famously dating women in their twenties. He also referenced convicted child sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein and actors in Hollywood taking drugs.

But while Ricky has recently stepped back from his role of host, he's now revealed how he would open the awards if he were responsible. This year, hosting duties fall to US comedian, Nikki Glaser, who has also expressed her concern over being cancelled after her debut.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Ricky has revealed that once again, he wouldn't hold back. He told his 14.9 million followers on Elon Musk's platform: "Sat in the bath wondering about what I would say if I were hosting The Golden Globes on Sunday. It's been a pretty good year for material."

He went on to say: "Hello, and welcome to the 82nd Golden Globe awards. What a year it's been. Hundreds of entertainers jumped at the chance to go to The Vatican to meet The Pope. Many from Hollywood. " In a follow-up post, The Office star said: "Justin Timberlake was convicted of Drink Driving. If he'd have gone to jail he'd have heard the words 'Sexy Back' a lot more often."

Fans have since responded to Ricky's posts, which have been viewed collectively over 13,500,000 times, about a potential return and it appears he hasn't ruled it out completely. When asked how much the awards would have to pay him to host again, Ricky responded: "Free if they do it in Hampstead. Otherwise, $2 million." But Ricky previously revealed that he had instructed the glitzy awards event not to ask him back.

Having previously hosted in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2016 and 2020, he told LadBible: "It could be the Golden Globes could offer me 10 million for 10 minutes work, you know, and I'd be an idiot, I'd be a liar, to say I wouldn't consider it. But at the moment, given I've done it five times, it got better and better for me - I enjoyed them all, but it got better - and I'm planning never to do it again.

"I've asked them not to ask me because I can be persuaded, that's true. You know, it's not a principle." Despite this, he still made an appearance last year, having bagged the Best Stand Up Performance for his divisive Ricky Gervais: Armageddon special which saw some viewers demand for jokes to be removed.

One part from Gervais which was taken in poor taste saw him make comments about terminally ill children and the organisation, Make A Wish. The foundation allows terminally ill children to make one wish that can be granted. In the skit, he revealed that throughout the coronavirus pandemic, sick children would ask for videos from him. However, Ricky said: "I always say yes. And I always start the video the same way. I go 'Why didn't you wish to get better? What, you f***ing r*****d as well?" But in a bid to prevent controversy, he added: "I don't do that either, okay. These are all jokes, alright. I don't even use that word in real life. The R word. I used it in a joke, that's not real life is it. I'm playing a role."

The show which is set to be released on Christmas Day sees Ricky say: "I then burst into hospitals and go 'Wake up baldy'. Look at me twerking on TikTok." When asked about the skit on BBC Radio 5 Live by Nihal Arthanayake, he said: "In the actual skit, I say 'I've been doing a lot of video messages lately for terminally ill children. Only if they request it. I don’t burst into hospitals and say, 'Wake up baldy'."

"I'm literally saying in the joke that I don’t do that. But people have a reaction. They don't analyse it. They feel something – that's what offence is. It's a feeling. That's why 'I'm offended' is quite meaningless. What do you want me to change?"
